What's inside your dog's bed matters more than most people realise. Dogs spend 12–14 hours a day sleeping - that's a lot of contact time with whatever materials are in their bed.
Fillings to Look For High-density CertiPUR-US certified foam is the gold standard - it's tested for harmful chemicals, heavy metals, and VOCs. Natural latex is another excellent option: durable, naturally antimicrobial, and biodegradable. Avoid cheap polyester fiberfill - it compresses fast, harbours dust mites, and offers no joint support.

Cover Fabrics Look for OEKO-TEX certified fabrics - this certification means the textile has been tested for harmful substances at every stage of production. Avoid fabrics with heavy chemical treatments or synthetic dyes that aren't certified safe.
What to Avoid
- Beds with strong chemical smells (off-gassing foam)
- Uncertified memory foam from unknown sources
- Covers with small decorative elements that can be chewed off
- Non-removable covers - you need to be able to wash them
